HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FILM
Submission Requirements for the Umlazi International Film Festival
General Requirements
- Films must be submitted before the official closing date.
- All genres are accepted:
- Short Films
- Feature Films
- Documentaries
- Student Films
- Animation
- Films must be submitted in high-quality digital format:
- MP4
- MOV
- AVI
- Non-English films must include English subtitles.
- The applicant must own the rights or have permission to submit the film.
- Films previously screened at other festivals may still qualify.
- Each submission must include:
- Film title
- Director’s name
- Producer’s name
- Country of production
- Film duration
- Synopsis (short description)
- Poster or promotional image
- Director’s biography and profile photo
- Trailer link (optional)
- Student filmmakers may be required to provide proof of student status.
- Submission links can be sent through:
- Google Drive
- FilmFreeway
- Youtube Link
- Selected filmmakers may be requested to provide:
- Screening copy in HD
- Marketing materials
- Social media handles
- Interview availability
Technical Requirements
- Minimum resolution: HD 1080p preferred
- Clear audio quality
- No watermarks on screening copies
- Runtime categories:
- Short Film: under 40 minutes
- Feature Film: over 40 minutes
Additional Notes
The festival reserves the right to use trailers and posters for promotional purposes.
Submission may apply depending on category.
Late submissions may not be considered.
